How is it that two kids can suck a parent's bank account empty so darn quickly? Dylan is playing football... that means new cleats, a skull cap, new socks and a new jersey. Bad enough...??? No - now he wants to try fly fishing. So Bobby has a friend from work who is going to take Dylan up to RMNP on a trip to see if he likes it. Of course just for him to "see" if he likes it, we had to spend some money. We had to get him some hip waders and of course Mom wants him to have a good hat to keep the sun off his face and neck. Think that is all... NO WAY... He is in band too so we had to go get the new band book from the music store. While we were there we did check on a new jazz mouth piece for Clayton's saxophone since he is taking jazz band this year. Too bad Clayton... at $150 just for a mouthpiece, we are going to wait to make sure you want to be in jazz band! So between football, band and fly fishing... we dropped a load of money on just one kid! ARGH! It is only going to get worse.
Oh well, if it wasn't for them who would I spend my money on? Me... Bobby... hahahahaha.
Bobby has been baking like crazy lately. I just don't even eat it anymore - I already battle my weight! I don't need to make it worse. One of these days he will be able to fulfill the dream of baking for a living. He is getting orders here and there for his bread and cheesecakes. Prayers for guidance in that would be appreciated. It is going to be a long way off, but once the boys are out of school maybe we can make something work.
UGH - off to laundry... how many loads of laundry until I can see the floor... hmmm... 1, 2, 3, 4.
Oh forget it!

School is in session!
School started... YEAH! I'm sure the boys don't totally feel the same way.
Clayton was happy about starting jazz band today. Hopefully he will do well in the class and the director will challenge him to move forward with his saxaphone skills. He is taking basic classes... Biology, Geometry and Spanish so hopefully nothing too challenging. One class I am interested in is the Advanced Technology class. They will work on some basic computer programming, website design and programming and some other things. Since Clayton has a strong mathmatical mind... he should do well here. We shall see....
Dylan has been placed in Algebra 1. In seventh grade no less... Looks like we are raising some math MENSA candidates! They didn't get it from me. He has been going to football practice for the last week and told me tonight that he will play the position of tight end. He seems excited about it. He is also in band... pray they have an extra horn that he can use because we really cannot afford to buy the boy a horn. He plays the barritone. I guess he could have played the tuba, but the barritone is so stinking big it is a pain to deal with... Why couldn't he have been interested in something much more simple... and small?????
Now the homework for the first night has been done... the second list of school supplies needed has been made... the lunch account has been filled (for the short time it will last)... I'm so happy school is back in session.

School is about to start here
Clayton had to head up to the high school today to get his ID, locker and finalize his schedule. Turns out the school hired a new band director and they are now offering Jazz band. Clayton was pretty excited and asked the school to adjust his schedule so he could get in the class. Last year we actually considered moving Clayton to a larger school district for better music options, but we were hesitant due to the size of school where we live. We prefer the smaller classes. So... we were very happy with the school's decision to let the band instructor go back to just the middle school and hire an instructor just for the high school. I'm excited to see how much Clayton can grow with these new options.
I tried to talk Dylan into playing football in 7th grade, but he just isn't interested. He really prefers baseball and that is OK. (Even though he is a great football running back.) This could work out well since our town is a powerhouse in baseball in this state and across the country. I'm praying for baseball scholarships here!
I get the great pleasure of working with my sister-in-law every day now. Carrie has taken the position of Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor at our church. Even though she is on the opposite end of the office from me... I enjoy getting the chance to work with her.
JC has been here visiting this summer but goes home this Friday. I'm very sad. I know the boys have enjoyed the time they have spent with him and they look forward to him being here every year. It was nice that he could drive this year and next year Clayton will be driving too so I am sure they will have many more options for next year!
OK - that is it for now... I miss everyone and look forward to hearing from you!
